From the Ellin (Joseph and Nancy) Freedom Summer Collection; Memo from the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) staff to Mississippi Summer Project participants, no date given. The letter informs participants of the 1st orientation session for the summer project, scheduled to begin on June 14 at Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio. Directions to the college and registration procedures are given, as well as fee amounts and details about cars and clothing. An additional memo is included that addresses concerns regarding money, arrests, transportation to orientation, and issues related to vehicle use in Mississippi. A section for those bringing cars is included and is to be completed and returned to the COFO office.
