From the Ellin (Joseph and Nancy) Freedom Summer Collection; Letter from Shirley Strum Kenny, President of Queens College, to veterans of the Mississippi Freedom Summer project, postmarked May 8, 1989. Includes information on the upcoming reunion of Freedom Summer volunteers to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1964 Mississippi Freedom Project, as well as an invitation to participate in an oral history documentation project about Freedom Summer. Also includes information and requests for donations for the Chaney-Goodman-Schwerner Award. The award was named after James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, three civil rights workers who were murdered near Philadelphia, Mississippi in 1964.
