Photograph of Charlotta Bass, right, and Carleton B. Goodlett during an event commemorating Black History Week. Bass and Goodlett appear to be reading a proclamation in honor of the occasion. The event was held Feb. 1965 at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in San Francisco. Goodlett was the editor and publisher of the "Sun Reporter," a San Francisco-based newspaper that covered events in the Bay Area's African-American community.
