Photograph of Charlotta Bass and other guests at a banquet for the Citizens Committee to Preserve American Freedoms (CCPAF). Bass is wearing a white hat and is seated in the center of the front row. The man seated next to Bass with the glasses and bowtie is Frank Wilkinson, one of CCPAF's founders. The man seated on Bass' left, with his hand near his chin, is Harvey O'Connor, a muckraking author and the banquet's keynote speaker. Rev. Stephen Fritchman of the First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles is seated next to O'Connor; Fritchman's wife, Frances, is seated next to Fritchman. CCPAF was established in 1952 to oppose the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC).
