Photograph of Charlotta Bass, second from right, talking to unidentified guests at a banquet for the Citizens Committee to Preserve American Freedoms (CCPAF). CCPAF was established in 1952 to oppose the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC). CCPAF maintained that HUAC violated the First Amendment rights of the citizens who were called before it to testify about their political beliefs and associations.
