Photograph of Eslanda Goode Robeson, third from right, during a reception in her honor at the California Eagle offices on May 19, 1948. Charlotta Bass, the newspaper's publisher, is in the center of the photograph, next to a child. Mrs. Robeson, wife of actor and singer Paul Robeson, was her husband's manager and was closely associated with his various political campaigns, including opposition to fascism in Spain and attempts to persuade Congress to pass anti-lynching legislation.
