Photograph of union headquarters for the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, Local 700, at 3823 E. Gage Avenue in Bell. The union for many years was based at 5851 Avalon Boulevard in Los Angeles, home base for the California Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) and several CIO-affiliated labor unions. The Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers moved their headquarters to Bell sometime in the late 1950s and remained at that facility until the early 1960s.
