Official Office of War Information photograph showing an African-American soldier standing guard by a group of Nazi prisoners. The African-American soldier holds a gun and a knife. The Nazi prisoners are holding their hands in the air, surroundering to the American soldier. The back of the photograph contains the caption: "U.S. NEGRO TROOPS IN ACTION. A Negro soldier of the 12th Armored Division, Seventh U.S. Army, stands guard over a group of Nazi prisoners captured in the surroundering German forest (April, 1945). Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force announced May 1, 1945, that Allied Forces on the Western Front had taken a total of 2,778,238 enemy prisoners since "D-Day" (June 6, 1944)."
