Black-and-white photograph of the children of James Brown, one of the plaintiffs in the Briggs v. Elliott school segregation case. After the petition was filed, the Brown family had to leave South Carolina to find employment. Members of the Brown family listed in the petition are Thomas, Euralia or Uralia, and Joe Morris.
The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
