Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) file on Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., including letters between DeLaine and J. Edgar Hoover and other FBI agents and written reports documenting Civil Rights complaints filed by DeLaine after his home in Summerton, South Carolina, was burned in 1950. The file includes letters from 1952 and 1971. Many of the FBI files duplicate original documents elsewhere in the collection.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
