|Title:||Letter, 1950 July 17, (Lake City, S.C.), Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., to Herman M. Ridgill, (Manning, S.C.)|
|Date:||1950 July 17|
Letter from July 17, 1950 from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., of Lake City, South Carolina, to Herman M. Ridgill of Manning, South Carolina, regarding Ridgill's election as treasurer of Clarendon County. The letter notes the importance of African American votes and indicates that an undesirable communication from one of Ridgill's running mates made it impossible to influence about twenty African American votes in Manning, which caused him to loose the senate election. This letter is the shorter of two drafts in the collection.
