Title:Letter, 1948 Mar. 5, (Summerton, S.C.), Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., to J.M. Hinton, [Columbia, S.C.]
Date:1948 Mar. 5

Letter from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., in Summerton, South Carolina, to James Hinton, President of the South Carolina branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Columbia, South Carolina. DeLaine writes of discrimination in voter registration in Clarendon County where many qualified African Americans, mainly teachers, were turned down when they tried to register to vote because whites, including a lawyer named McFadden, do not want African Americans to qualify to vote.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
