Essay describing events of 10 Oct. 1955, in which Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr. returned gun fire after an unknown person or persons fired into his home; event forced him to flee Lake City, South Carolina for New York. This is the second of two drafts in the collection.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
