One page letter from Isaiah DeQuincey Newman to Clifton G. Brown, director of the Federal Housing Administration office in Columbia, South Carolina, dated March 5, 1971. In the letter, Newman, as president of Statewide Homes Foundation, asks Brown to provide a letter verifying that a tract of land in Dillon, South Carolina will be funded as part of a future installment of a FHA rent supplement program. Newman instructs that he will need to use that letter to secure a bank loan for the purchase of the land to be used for an affordable housing project; if he does not receive the letter, his organization will lose the option and the money deposited on the land.
