Oral history in which Jibreel Khazan discusses the objectives and strategies of the demonstrations of 1960-1963, including the circumstances of the February 1960 sit-ins at Kress and Woolworth and subsequent negotiations. He also describes his involvement in student government at A&T and in the local chapter of CORE, and provides details about the group's history, leaders, and actions. Other subjects include the role of Jesse Jackson, desegregation of the Hot Shoppes, incarceration of protesters at the polio hospital, and Bennett College.
The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
