In this transcript of a telephone conversation, Lyndon Johnson describes his strategy for pursuing Federal action to insure voting rights for African American citizens. The President tells Martin Luther King that he would like to pursue equal voting rights within the broader strategy for passing Great Society legislation in the coming year.
