In this interview, Johnny Parham recalls his involvement in the Atlanta Student Movement and with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) as a Morehouse College and Atlanta University student. His involvement in the movement consists of marches and sit-ins at local Atlanta restaurants, and includes representing Atlanta University on The Committee on Appeal for Human Rights (COAHR). Parham ends the interview by discussing his account of the March 1960 sit-in at Sprayberry Cafeteria in Atlanta, and by describing the current challenges within African American communities throughout the United States.

Johnny Parham was born at William A. Harris Memorial Hospital (African American hospital) in Atlanta, Georgia. His mother was a licensed practical nurse and his father a dining car attendant for Seaboard Airline Railroad. He graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in political science and history and a minor in secondary education.
