Overview entry on Arkansas's Constitutions, the state has operated under 4 different constitutions: one in 1836, when Arkansas first became a state, the next when Arkansas ceeded the Union in 1861, another in 1868 when the state reentered the Union, and finally the last in 1874 at the end of Reconstruction.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
